Oooooh interwebz…
I was just about to unleash a tirade against the culture of america, and the world at large, because I was upset that, after several listens and after much time had gone by, that an album that I was positing as one of my top 5 albums of 2009 wasn’t getting ANY buzz whatsoever and it sounds to me like something that should at least be moderately popular in the internet world of hipsterdom. But APPARENTLY, the album doesn’t even get released until the middle of March 2010. SO OOPS! Sorry for hating on all y’all prematurely and sorry to the band (Freelance Whales) for apparently listening to your leaked album (Weathervanes) for a couple of months now. Don’t know how that happened, but I blame the internet.
I’ll be sure to see you on tour and buy your album once you become relevant, because I’m sure you will be. At least somewhat.
EDIT: Except that some sources are saying that it was released at the end of 2009 already, and you can apparently buy the album from Amazon so I’m going to go with maybe they self-released it in 2009 and now in 2010 it was picked up by a label and is being re-released? They don’t have a wikipedia page and there isn’t any info on Last.fm or their website and I don’t feel like researching this any further. Listen to them when you get a chance though, because they’re pretty cool. They kind of sound like a cross between Sufjan Stevens and a Ben Gibbard project.
